Norwalk Housing Foundation (NHF) College Scholarship Program

The Norwalk Housing Authority (NHA) created the Norwalk Housing Foundation (NHF), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, to raise money for college scholarships and other educational services for public housing families. The NHF College Scholarship Program helps housing students of all ages who attend or want to attend an accredited two-year, four-year, or technical college. The mission of the Norwalk Housing Foundation (NHF) College Scholarship Program is to break the cycle of poverty by enabling our residents to earn a college degree, start or further their career and ultimately transition out of public housing. “We provide college scholarships and other valuable resources to students so they can focus on their studies, achieve their goals and become self-sufficient.”

Anacaona Youth Enrichment Program

Anacaona Youth Enrichment started with the idea that the children needed a safe, academic, artistic and culturally diverse program that would nurture their curiosity and creativity. The organization provides a performing arts and enrichment program, mentorship opportunities, workshops and leadership training through their LIT (Leaders in Training Program) Summer Program. Many of the young leaders ages 14-24 serve as volunteers and counselors to the younger children ages 5-13 during the summer program. The organization also sponsors college tours and workshops on college prep and STEM. Through the performing arts and enrichment program children have participated and performed in various events and venues throughout the State. These include the Juneteenth parade in Bridgeport, the Haitian American festival in Bridgeport, the NICE Festival in Norwalk, the Two Planks Theater Company in their productions of Hair Spray, Mulan, Little Mermaid, and Footloose; and at many private cultural events throughout CT and NY.
