The Greek-American Folklore Society is dedicated to the study, preservation and instruction of the history and traditions of Hellenic folk culture. We share our work with the public through stage re-enactments of traditional Greek customs, songs and dances, as well as through lectures, exhibits and workshops.
Annalisa Ewald’s CT classical guitar performances create a memorable musical experience with selections drawn from 400 years of the guitar’s international repertoire. The charm of a spirited performance crafted by an artist critics have named “exquisite” and whose first solo album yielded a No. 8 charting on Billboard’s Traditional Classical category is unique.
Ms. Ewald has appeared in numerous festivals: the Norwalk Art Festival, the Bruce Museum Fine Art and Crafts Festivals, the Stamford Art Festival, the Boston Early Music Festival, Santa Barbara’s Bach Festival, the Laurel Festival and Manitou Festival. She has also been awarded numerous grants by the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). Special concerts for Corporate clients include the USTA Open, the Pilot Pen Tennis Tournament, Fidelity Investments, Philips Corp, and many others.
Elisabet Torras is a Flamenco Dancer originally from Barcelona, Spain. She has lived in Barcelona, Madrid, Almeria, Gran Canaria, Moscow, and currently in Brooklyn. Elisabet’s training in Flamenco dancing is from Insitut del TeatreBarcelona, Centro de Arte Flamenco y Danza Española Amor de Dios-Madrid, and Fundacion Conservatorio Casa Patas Flamenco Madrid. Her dance experience has been in Spain at: Manolo Carrasco, Javier Latorre, Somorrostro Dansa Flamenca, Rojas&Rodriguez and in New York at: Noche Flamenca, A Palo Seco, Flamenco y Sol.
